Meghan Markle's treasured engagement ring has gone through several changes since Prince Harry proposed.

And fans are convinced the Duchess of Sussex has made yet more tweaks to the jewellery after noticing what they believe is a huge amendment to the piece in the trailer for her new Netflix series. Meghan was first given the ring, which was made with two diamonds from Princess Diana's collection and one from Botswana when she and Harry became engaged in 2017. It underwent a major redesign two years later when the plain gold band was swapped for a thinner micropave style.

In 2023, there were multiple sightings of her without the ring, leading to reports that it was being repaired because of a loose stone in the fragile setting. Now, fans speculate that the ring may have undergone yet another alteration, particularly concerning the shape of the central diamond.

In a scene from the trailer for With Love, Meghan, the duchess is captured reaching for flowers, showcasing her complete ring prominently. Observers have noted that the central diamond seems to have been changed to a square cut, in contrast to the original round cut.

On X, one person inquired, "Is that a brand new engagement ring?" Meanwhile, another commented, "It seems she's swapped the round diamond for a pricier square cut stone."

The first glimpse we got of Meghan's engagement ring came in 2017 when she and Harry announced their engagement to the world and they appeared for a photocall at Kensington Palace.

During an interview celebrating this joyous moment, Harry shared: "The ring is made of yellow gold, as that’s her favorite. The main stone was sourced from Botswana, and the smaller diamonds flanking it come from my mother’s jewelry collection, ensuring that she is with us on this wild journey together."

However, less than two years later, the ring looked very different after a redesign, which M eghan debuted at Trooping the Colour in 2019 . By then, Meghan was wearing the ring on a thinner micropave band - along with another stunning ring.

And in a book about the couple, it was explained why the ring was changed - and the meaning behind the eternity band. In their biography Finding Freedom, royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand write: "On May 19, 2019, Harry also surprised his wife of one year with the gift of a ring that he had created with jeweller-to-the-stars Lorraine Schwartz, a favourite of Meghan's.

"The eternity band, featuring conflict-free diamonds, honors the family of three by incorporating the birthstones of Meghan, their newborn son Archie, and Harry—peridot, emerald, and sapphire—on the inner side of the ring." The jeweler shared with the writers: "Harry aimed to create something truly special. He is such a wonderful person—so romantic and considerate." The narrative goes on to say: "Harry also had the idea of having Lorraine resize and reset Meghan's engagement ring with a new diamond band."

In 2023, Meghan made several public appearances, notably at the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, where she was spotted without her ring. A source later told Page Six that the absence of the ring was due to it "being repaired," explaining why it wasn't on her finger. Interestingly, she has been seen wearing the ring again in recent months.
